Your writing
Copyright in your manuscripts, notes, and exports stays with you, or with whoever already owned it. A diagnostic that points at your sentence, a fact you confirm, or a passage you file through an add-in gives Verne no claim on your work. Verne never receives it.
Verne’s content
The text, design, illustrations, and logos on this website, and the Asten software, belong to Verne Ltd., except where the credits say otherwise. All rights are reserved.
You may quote short passages with a link back, as the law on quotation and fair use allows. For logos and press assets, see the brand page and the trademark page.
The Egyptian artwork
The ornaments, icons and diagrams on this site are original drawings made by Verne, inspired by Egyptian art of the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms, which is public-domain heritage. The painted plates are public-domain works and CC0 Open Access images from museum collections; Verne cut, graded and arranged them, and claims no rights in the works themselves.
Verne’s copyright covers its own drawings, not the ancient works or the motifs themselves. Anyone is free to draw on the same heritage.
Reporting infringement
This website hosts no uploads from visitors, so a notice will usually concern Verne’s own text or artwork. Asten keeps manuscripts only on its users’ computers, which Verne cannot see or change.
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, email info@vernesystems.com with “Copyright notice” in the subject, and include:
- the URL of the page, and a description of the material;
- the copyrighted work you say is infringed, or a representative list if there are several;
- your name, postal address, and email address, and, if you act for someone else, whom you represent;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner; and
- your physical or electronic signature. Typing your full name is enough.
Verne will review each notice and, where it is valid, remove or change the material and tell you what was done.
Counter-notices
If material was removed after a notice and you believe that was a mistake, for example because you wrote the quoted text or hold a license to it, email info@vernesystems.com with “Counter-notice” in the subject. Include the URL, why you believe the removal was a mistake, your contact details, a statement made in good faith, and your signature. Verne will review it and may restore the material.
Repeat infringers
Repeat-infringer policies apply to services that host user content. This website hosts none, and Asten keeps manuscripts on your own computer, so there are no accounts to suspend. If that ever changes, this page will explain how repeat infringement is handled before it does.
Please do not send false notices. Knowingly misrepresenting infringement can make you liable, and it breaks the acceptable use policy.
